"Every scribe who has been instructed in the kingdom of heaven
is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom
both the new and the old."... (Matthew 13:52)

Hope in Troubled Times: A New Vision for Confronting Global Crises  -- A book with a title that indicates what it really does. "Hope in Troubled Times pulls off the difficult feat of communicating, in a gracious and nonjudgmental way, the dire straits in which our society finds itself today. Others have used the concept of idolatry as a category of social critique; no one has ever used it with such biblically-informed power and specificity. The analysis is sobering; no punches are pulled. But the ultimate context is hope, not despair. It's a remarkable achievement."-- Nicholas Wolterstorff, Noah Porter Professor Emeritus of Philosophical Theology, Yale Divinity School.

Of Historical Interest And, Perhaps, Helpful Insight Into The Spiritual Exercises -- are a series of over 50 talks under the title, On The Journey. Most were originally given in the early 1980's in Guelph to a group of persons making Annotation 19 Spiritual Exercises according to the directed retreat method. These persons were being directed by guides under supervision as part of their training for the ministry of spiritual direction. Other presentations, relevant to the same topic, have come from other venues around that same period. The talks were intended to supplement the explanations usually given by guides to their directees in the spiritual direction sessions. These talks were originally placed on cassette tapes. If you would like to have them in an MP3 file format they can be downloaded at no cost through the services of a free PANDO program. To see the list of topics download the PDF file by clicking here.
